5 WAYS TO FIND HIDDEN CASH IN SERVICE
More people are holding on to their units longer. As a result, everyone is now looking to Service to increase revenue. Here are 5 ideas how:
1. Get finished work paid for and off your lot. Have someone responsible for decreasing time of completion to time of pick up ratios. If a customer leaves a unit for longer than 10 days charge for storage.
2. Generate more hours per RO. One quarter hour more per RO could mean $50,000 more revenue per year. Do a 360 walk around when checking in every unit.
3. Never, Never, Never allow techs to pull their own parts. Go through the Parts guys and get it on paper—always.
4. Keep the shop clean and give customers a view of it. Let the techs know that they are always in the spotlight, and they are one of the store’s most valuable assets.
5. Control shop supplies before they control you. Ask the tech for the empty can of WD-40 before giving out a new one. Keep fasteners, clips and hardware where you can see who is dipping in. Watch bulk oil. Move to quarts if you can, charge the whole quart and give the customer the covered can with the leftovers.
